I’ve been Freerunning since 2005. It all started for me when I met a couple of guys at work who were already training frequently. I had already been interested in the idea of Freerunning and Parkour since I first saw ‘Jump London’.
It was easy for me to begin a training routine as I had been practising Martial Arts since 1995 and had competed in many National and International competitions. However, when I became interested in Freerunning, I noticed that there was a lack of competition. Instead, practitioners were eager to exchange their knowledge and therefore better themselves through teamwork rather than concentrate on being the best; it was a refreshing change.
After a year of practising and perfecting simple movements and vaults, I started training at a local gymnastics centre in order to learn the acrobatic aspects of Freerunning. Since then I have undertaken a number of performance jobs with the BBC, K-Swiss and Caterpillar as well as performing at events in my local area. At the beginning of 2008 I began to teach Freerunning, which was an easy transition as I have been teaching Martial Arts as well as working in schools since 2001.
I am always looking for more reasons to teach, perform and train.
